In short: playing is free. Signing in with Google lets you forge games and use the Game Studio. We keep your name, email address, the games you make and the feedback you send, and nothing else. Quest Forge is being tested: the Game Studio takes no money yet.
What Quest Forge is
Quest Forge makes small adventure games in the style of the 1988 and 1989 PC adventures. You describe an idea and an AI model writes the story; the engine draws it in 16 colours. In the Game Studio you build games yourself, room by room. Quest Forge is a fan-made homage. It is not made by, linked to or approved by Sierra On-Line or Activision.
A test version
Quest Forge is new and still being tested. Things can break, change or be reset, and a game may stop working after an update. Keep anything you cannot lose somewhere else as well.
The Game Studio and payment
- The Game Studio is offered for $10, paid once. While we test, no money is taken: pressing the button gives you the studio for free.
- It comes with $2 of credit for drawing pieces of your own. Each drawing uses some of it; you see what is left before you start. The credit has no cash value and cannot be paid out.
- When real payments start, this page will say so before anyone is asked to pay, and what was given for free during the test stays yours.
Your games
- The games you make are yours. By making them on Quest Forge you let us store them, show them to the people you share them with, and show listed games in the gallery.
- Games made in the Game Studio are private until you share them with a link.
- Don’t put anything in a game that is illegal, hateful, sexual, aimed at harming someone, or copied from someone else’s work (other people’s games, art, music or text). We can hide or remove games and close accounts that break these rules.
- Stories written by the AI model can be odd or wrong. Read your game before you share it.
What we keep about you
- Your Google sign-in: your name, email address and profile picture, so we know which games are yours.
- What you make: your game ideas, your games, your pieces, your likes and how often your games are played.
- Feedback you send, with your email address only if you write it in.
- Your browser keeps a few settings on your own device (such as sound on or off and the last game you played).
We use no advertising and no tracking scripts, and we never sell what we keep.
Who handles it
- Google Firebase runs the site, the sign-in and the database (its database is in the EU, in Belgium).
- Anthropic provides the AI model. When you forge a game or draw a piece, the idea or the description you typed is sent to it to write the result.
Deleting your things
You can delete the games you made in the Game Studio yourself; a copy is kept for a while so a mistake can be undone. To have your account and everything you made removed, send us a message with the Feedback button on the main page and say which Google account it is; we will do it within 30 days.
